Who we are?

MWI is a social impact, volunteer-driven developmental organization with a vision to transform the society by empowering technical and financially disadvantaged women to maximize their economic potential and opportunities. We believe empowering women is key to developing the society. Founded in February 2016, the initiative recognized and implemented the power and potential of supporting and empowering Nigerian women. Of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals  (SDGs) agreed to by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as key to transforming our world by 2030, empowering women is key to achieving at least 6 of them namely no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, access to quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth.

With no support from government and with the commitment and support of a few dedicated people we have sought opportunities and have achieved appreciable progress in improving the lives and business of over a thousand women – and their families.

We not only give fish in terms of financial support; we teach them to fish by giving essential knowledge and resources to grow a sustainable income. The MWl currently supports over 1,000 women and operates empowerment centers across 5 key areas of Lagos State – Ejigbo, Olowora, Ikeja, Agege and Ipaja of Lagos State.

What we do?

Ø  Provision of Interest Free Loan for Market Women, who find it difficult to grow their business.

Ø  We train and empower women at the Bottom of the Pyramid to crystalize their work and business which will in turn lead to transformation within our economy.

When we support women, we;

  • Support their families and family income
  • Give them hope for tomorrow
  • Expand their competence and capacity
  • Empower their children to be more productive
  • Connect them with opportunities and funding
  • Empower them to be more independent

Women Economic Empowerment is very important for any country’s development right from the smallest family and we have taken up the mantle for Nigeria. Empowering them has meant a lot for us but more importantly to them; We have restored the hope of many, we have helped some build back business where they lost everything, we have helped many to gain some income to send their children back to school, we have put a lot of smiles to families where the mothers now contribute to family income, we have also helped men gain confidence as breadwinners in their homes.

This is a mission we cannot do alone.

You are welcome to support, join us or share the good news.
